Wish we could talk to someone from Voigtlander. Not sure if this is a rangefinder issue or if the Voigtlander for Sony lenses (35 APO and 50 APO)also do this. Would be curious to know. Thanks, Joel There's nothing to disagree about because this is not an opinion but a fact: any M lens can hit perfect infinity focus at the hard stop when used on an M body if the lens is manufactured correctly and/or adjusted after the fact to correct the lack of manufacturing quality control. M lenses are NOT by default manufactured or intended to hit infinity focus before the hard stop like AF lenses are. What we can probably agree on is whether an M lens hitting infinity before the hard stop bothers you or not. It doesn't bother a lot of people, and that's great for them. For me, having the M lens hit infinity focus exactly at the hard stop is a huge selling point of the M system. And we shouldn't confuse what we're talking about here, which is M lenses that hit actual infinity focus before the hard stop (optical adjustment issue) with M lenses that actually do hit infinity at the hard stop but focus past infinity when using the rangefinder (lens cam needs adjustment assuming the rangefinder is calibrated correctly). Also we shouldn't confuse the above with using an M lens adapted to an SL or other non-M body. Most all M adapters are made so that infinity focus is achieved slightly before the hard stop. Even the Leica M-Adapter-L when used on an SL body is designed to give infinity focus before the hard stop with M lenses. Adapters are not made with the same exacting tolerances of M camera bodies.
