Hello,

I have read the online manual and searched other articles, but I cannot for the life of me figure out the significance of the square icon near the shutter speed dial on top of the Leicameter MC. Does anyone have any feedback?

Thanks in advance

I believe that is the index mark when using the incident-light metering adapter. A translucent plastic cover to fit over the honeycomb "eyes" on the meter front - which is then pointed at the light source, not the subject.

Since the cover is translucent white, and metering from a light source, it would normally result in ~2.5 stops underexposure.

So the index tells you to use a longer shutter speed than the one indicated by the black triangle (in the case of the settings in your picture, to use ~1/3 second instead of 1/15th).

It is for when you attach the light booster cell.
