Clem Posted September 14, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently, the focusing ring on my Leica X type 113 has been harder to turn than usual and squeaks, as if an inner metal part was rubbing against the inner wall of the ring. I was wondering if it was a known problem, or if it had happened to any of you before. As a cyclist, I thought that a small drop of WD-40 oil might solve the problem, but at the same time I don't want to commit a desperately stupid act. Having bought it in 2016, I don't think I can still claim my warranty... What do you advise me to do ? Thank you very much.

lykaman Posted September 14, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2020 If everything else is Ok. Probably time for a CLA @ a Leica Repair/Servicing Center, relevant to your location.. L
wda Posted September 14, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 14, 2020 (edited) Clem, welcome. I would definitely seek advice from Leica Customer Care. Could it be that it suffered vibration while cycling? It is a most unusual occurrence. Edited September 14, 2020 by wda
jaapv Posted September 14, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2020 Endorsing the above. WD40 on a camera is desperation kill-or-cure. Most likely kill.
lykaman Posted September 15, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 15, 2020 T wonder if we will ever find out anything further? L
cboy Posted September 16, 2020 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2020 The x 113 focus ring is not coupled to the focus mechanism even though it does have hard stops. It it focus by wire made to simulate manual focus.i wouldnt suggest to use oil as it has electrical contacts. I recommend CLA
