In fact, it is not a "machinery", since it was intended for private home use. I discovered it with other old pieces in the attic, when we sold my grand-grand-mother house. It is a wooden "machine" for making wool thread. Photo 1 shows the whole "thing". Photo 2 shows the foot actioned "pedal", making the collecting wheel turn through a simple piece of wood linked to a metal "S" ended axis (photo 3). You should notice on the two photos how simple and ingenious the system is, and also the care of its making. Photos 4 and 5 detail the relative sophistication of the various dimension and tension settings, and the last image shows that most pieces were made in wood. I must confess I love these "old things", that most of the time combine ingeniosity and care for harmony or beauty.
