usefeet Posted August 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know if there is a listing somewhere of each firmware release & date? Are you all happy with the current one? (mine is 1.094) Thanks
Advertisement Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Hi usefeet, Take a look here Release date of each firmware?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted August 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2007 1.107 is a nice improvement, and I would recommend it. 1.094 can still be reinstalled if you decide you don't like 1.107 for whatever reason. There is meant to be another release very soon.

carstenw Posted August 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 18, 2007 By the way, I didn't answer part of your question. I don't know the real release dates, but the firmware update files I have carry dates as follows: 1.09 20.12.2006 1.091 28.02.2007 1.092 5.03.2007 1.102 14.03.2007 1.107 27.07.2007
Albert4321 Posted August 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted August 18, 2007 humm, I got my M8 last week and it comes with FW 1.092 with S/N = 311xxx. I found that odd. Does that mean I got an old body (returned, demo)? The reason I asked because I have banding on some hi-ISO shots (I updated the FW to 1.107) which I think that problem has been addressed. No it does not mean you have a returned body. It does mean that body was produced AFTER the 1.092 firmware was released and BEFORE or slightly after the 1.102 firmware was released. I say slightly after the released of 1.102 because I doubt it makes to the production line at the same time. It probabnly take a few days or weeks before the newer firmware is loaded on current production cameras. Looking at the dates Carsten posted your camera was produced sometime after March 5th of 2007 and before they (Leica) started loading the 1.102 firmware. I bought a new body in June from B&H and got a replacement for my original from Leica NJ on June 11 and IIRC both had the 1.092 firmware. One serial number is higher and the other lower then your camera, if that means anything.

Carsten, Like most, I've kept track of the firmware version releases but I don't recall version 1.094 being released. How would William reinstall it if the only available copy is in his camera? Pete. usefeet Posted August 19, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted August 19, 2007 Carsten, Thanks for the list. It indicates to me the period my camera was made, which is what I was after. It's also interesting to see the dates and firmware versions of other members.
carstenw Posted August 19, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 19, 2007 Pete, by jove, you are right! I hadn't noticed that the 1.094 version was not in my list. Hmm, well, 1.107 is probably the best version so far anyway, so I suppose it is okay. I wish there was a way to grab a firmware version from the camera. NickEgg Posted August 20, 2007 Share #10 Posted August 20, 2007 Quick question to the forum. When updating firmware, from lets say 1.09 to 1.107 are all the updates implemented without having to install 1.102? You don't have to go through each one? Please advise. Cheers
carstenw Posted August 20, 2007 Share #11 Posted August 20, 2007 Each is complete by itself.
