The highest, deepest and longest tunnel on Britain's canal network. It takes the Huddersfield Narrow Canal through the Pennines. It's about 3 1/2 miles long.

I have been through many canal tunnels in my time, but not this one, the daddy of them all. You have to have a "chaperone" from the Canal and River Trust accompany you on the journey, which has to be booked 3 days in advance.

It takes between 2 and 3 hours to pass through, but would have had to have been "legged", back in the day. Now, that is hard work...
