Melquiades Posted August 25, 2020 Share #1 Â Posted August 25, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I just found on a new Summicron 28mm that the groove ring rotates. Is this a feature of the lens? IMG_7488.MOV Edited August 25, 2020 by Melquiades

a.noctilux Posted August 25, 2020 Share #2  Posted August 25, 2020 Never seen this on mine, after some years of use. Maybe fixable, see this DIY to fix some loose rings, for example  Contact the author, he may help for your lens ?
chasdfg Posted August 26, 2020 Share #3 Â Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Not a feature, but it seems maybe both (might be more than 2) small screws holding that portion of the lens have been lost, so now the ring spins freely. I don't think it's a difficult fix...IÂ think the toughest part is finding screws for it. You could contact Leica and see if they can send you the screws - though they might ask you to send the lens in for checking if they think the loose ring is indicative of bigger problems and potentially misaligned lens elements. Is that Summicron model number 11604 or 11672? The v2 11672 apparently corrects some build "issues" of the v1 with a revised chassis and new hood. It seems the v1 sometimes developed barrel wobble (like the video above) which might arise if you turn the lens when mounting by holding the hood. JoeLeica Posted August 26, 2020 Share #4  Posted August 26, 2020 That looks like 11604. The 3 set screws are most likely loose, have you tried tightening them? The 11604 is known to develop this issue. Your best option is to send it to Leica for service.
