rramesh Posted August 15, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M10-P has a WLAN username and password set. How does one change either the username or password? Can it only be done by Leica?
Advertisement Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Hi rramesh, Take a look here M10-P WLAN. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rramesh Posted August 15, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted August 15, 2020 Actually I am not even sure what the purpose of WLAN is as Fotos only required the QR code to connect.
rent Posted August 15, 2020 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2020 I'm not up to speed on these fancy camera features. But I'm pretty sure the QR encodes the WLAN settings (wifi name, username, password, protocol, etc) so upon scanning, your phone knows how to connect to the camera's WLAN. I don't know if the user is supposed to be able to change the username / password.
scott kirkpatrick Posted August 16, 2020 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2020 The username is the camera serial number, and the password is some random.number. I haven't found a way to change it.

Is the plan to enable another device to connect?
scott kirkpatrick Posted August 17, 2020 Share #6 Posted August 17, 2020 The QR code and the device ID/PW are probably saying the same thing. I don't know why they spell it out, unless some piece of test equipment or a future version of the Leica Image Shuttle can connect over the WiFi. Other manufacturers, e.g. Panasonic, support multiple ways of connecting over wifi. Leica discourages this, but they may be using software written by a third party and intended for multiple cameras.
Joe Zobkiw Posted October 8, 2020 Share #7 Posted October 8, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm pretty sure this standard protocol for WiFi access from device to device. The camera spins up it's own WiFi hotspot that the FOTOS app then connects to in order to control or transfer photos from the camera. In order for the network to be protected (WPA2 or whatever) it needs a username and password, otherwise, someone could easily try to connect to the WiFi in a coffee shop and slow down or otherwise confuse/muck with your camera. The QR code is merely a shortcut so you don't have to type the username and password manually. Hope this helps.
davidbaddley Posted November 29, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 29, 2020 Have you seen these things? A full circuit board and another antenna board, a lot of extra hardware to carry around for those who never intend to use it. I wonder if it can be removed?
