Not sure if this has happened to anybody else - today, out of the blue, my SL2's firmware (2.0) crashed - I did not do anything unusual so I do not know what the trigger was, but it happened when I wanted to format my SD card. Although the camera continued to operate and I was able to shoot (and the exposures etc. looked right) I first realized that when turning off, the red dot on the LCD did not show "Leica" but a big "!". I then noticed that some of the menu lines changed language back from German to English (but not all) and some were shifted to the right (looked weird...). Turning on/off and removing batteries etc. did not help. I was also unable to access my user profiles (this was one part which was shifted to the right + language changed) and my presets were all gone - it looked like a  brand new camera. In order to resolve the issue, I had to reset the camera (twice, since the first re-setting process just increased the language Desaster in the menu...). After second reset and until know everything works again as it should (that's the good news) but all my user profiles were gone (that's the bad news, as I had personalized the camera with these profiles very much...) So, what I have done know and would recommend to other SL2 users - after manually recreating the first user profiles I have exported them and saved them externally, so that I can re-import them if something like this ever happens again.

best regards, Holger

Edit - might have found the reason for that crash - a mechanical damage of the SD card - see photo - Lesson learned #2 - inspect SD cards from time to time;)

Thanks for sharing, I haven’t had my SL2 so long but creating a user profile and back it up sounds like something I should do immediately so I don’t have to start over in case something happens.
