haikos Posted August 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, looking at the leica accessories, I saw the blue and canvas ettas pouch for the Q and was wondering if my (newly acquired) ME would fit in it as well? Any ideas? It would be used to put the camera into a standard backpack and not scratch it up. Is it better to use the neoprene one perhaps? Something with whole camera protection. When I go out for the purpose of photography, I normally use one of my Ona bags so this setup would be to keep it close at hand in everyday scenarios. Thanks all

haikos Posted August 5, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 5, 2020 Thanks for the reply, so that’s a vote for the neoprene. I’ll check it out at my local boutique.
darylgo Posted August 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2020 I tried the Ettas with an M body and lens. It does fit, barely. Functionally it was not easy to place the camera in and more difficult to withdraw. Leica has a new version that is larger, not the same form factor. As an alternative to the neoprene which I like, Artisan and Artist has a nice drop in bag that I find easy to use while giving good protection. They make it in cloth and leather, both work well, the leather is more protective while the cloth is more flexible. Popflash sells them along with B&H. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?InitialSearch=yes&N=0&Ntt=Artisan+And+Artist+Camera+Pouch&ap=Y&gclid=CjwKCAjw1K75BRAEEiwAd41h1Iwo01o0jXC-ZSK4BioDfFlOxp092UDaHpZHMFA8omzA4q3HczklMhoCLdUQAvD_BwE If buying the neoprene there are two sizes, the small fits the m body with a 50/1.4, a snug fit and it works well, perhaps the larger would be better, I haven’t tried it.

Ko.Fe. Posted August 6, 2020 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2020 I don’t use backpack as everyday. Switched to camera bags. I only put camera away if I go at work. Been doing it for years. Backpack and camera in it in another bag is too cumbersome for everyday use, in my everyday use experience.
haikos Posted August 7, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted August 7, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for your input Ko.Fe, I went to my dealer today and looked at a neoprene case by optech, tried the lunch bag style Artisan and artist that Darylgo mentioned, and finally settled with the leica leather pouch. The sandwich bag came close but the leica pouch (as expensive as it was) fit the best meaning it was soft and roomy while still holding the camera adequately. Also, it being able to be used with neck strap hanging out was a plus for over the shoulder or neck carry, and another plus was that it was able to accommodate my c sonnar with the hood mounted. Thanks all for your input and opinions!
darylgo Posted August 7, 2020 Share #8 Posted August 7, 2020 Great, it’s a well designed case and the strap advantage makes it versatile. The difficulty with all these cases is the evf isn’t accommodated.
haikos Posted August 7, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted August 7, 2020 You're right, I never thought of that
