24framesfraser Posted August 2, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seeing if anyone has felt with this issue. I unboxed a new M10M and put on a new 21mm Super Elmar 3.4 both purchased from B+H. I am seeing a strange small lightness in the top-left corner of the frame in the LCD in live view and in "play" or review mode. (It almost looks like a light leak.) I took a few cap on photos including body cap only photos and it doesn't seem to show up when reviewing the files on the computer but is apparent when viewing on the rear LCD. So I have deduced this is a screen issue. While it is minor and doesn't seem to effect the file , for the cost I would like this to function perfectly. My Q never had this problem and has taken a beating all around the world. I am considering going down to the LA Leica store and having them look at it as I don't want to deal with B&H's long return process and I am supposed to be shooting in Eastern Europe in 2 weeks. Did I just get a bad screen? Thanks in advance for any input.

jaapv Posted August 2, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2020 Without seeing the issue it seems so. Problem: if you want to replace the camera you'll have to deal with B&H. You could just return it and get another one from the Leica Store if you are in a hurry. Drawback: you'll have some cash outstanding for a little while.

We tested it with a few lenses and it is the LCD. I should have gone there in the first place and inspected by hand. Lesson learned. Thanks for the help.

I am going back to Leica later this week and getting a new body in person. The only thing I am scared of is how tempting that 50 2.0 APO Cron was. I also got on the list for anything 75 or 90 they had coming into the store. I have 2 weeks of shooting in Romania coming up and while I will also be taking my Q, would like something a little longer. Thinking of adapting some of my M42 glass to the M10-M before getting in to heavy and will share examples.

I've been impressed with the Summarit 50 and this was confirmed tonight by David and Josh from Miami Leica. They feel it is a close second to the apo 50. And it is many thousands of dollars cheaper, although discontinued now.
