Le Chef Posted August 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m considering adding an Elpro52 for use on either my 18-56 or 23mm. Has anybody got 1st hand experience? My thinking is it provides flexibility when I want macro but doesn’t prevent me from using either lens normally. I had thought about getting the 60mm macro but it’s not much longer than the 18-56 and it’s also not cheap! MTIA!

I started with the Elpro for financial reasons and a year later also purchased the 60 mm Elmarit, which Is excellent and my favourite APS-C lens by now. Nevertheless the Elpro52 is a very good buy that works very well with the 18-56 and 23 mm. I still use it. It is s brilliiant and practical combo.
Guest Posted August 2, 2020 Share #3 Posted August 2, 2020 Not using the ELPRO but I have lots of experience with achromats from Nikon, Pentax and Olympus. The results were always excellent. Just make sure that you get the magnification ratios you want. For example, with my Elmarit-M 90mm and the Olympus MCON-P02 achromat I obtain ratios between 1:2.75 to 1:2, which is a very attractive range for me. Marac Posted August 2, 2020 Share #4 Posted August 2, 2020 I bought the older Elpro 2 which has a 55mm thread, then i used step up/down rings to mount it with my TL lenses, IMHO this combo gave the same IQ but was £200 cheaper way to do it. I no longer have any TL lenses but I kept the Elpro.
ramarren Posted August 2, 2020 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2020 I use ELPRO VI and VII close up lenses with adapter rings for many kinds of close-up photography.. they're not a replacement for macro lenses, but provide other options at modest cost. Le Chef Posted August 8, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted August 8, 2020 Thanks All: Elpro52 is now on board. And I have a quick question. Do you add back whatever filter you normally use on the front of the lens to the front of the Elpro52, or do you leave the Elpro52 “naked”?
