Overgaard Posted August 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jut saw a site on the White House photographers. I've previously bought books with photos from the Clinton years. Here is a page with stories and photos from the current White House chief photographer: Eric Draper hosts Ask the White House I find it so much more interesting to see photos from the presidents daily life than seeing video. Photos somehow freezes the moment, emotions and all.

This country has gone to hell in a handbasket. It's almost unimaginable that the next president won't be HR Clinton or Barack Obama, either of whom would be tremendously capable (and groundbreaking choices). But I learned in both 2000 and 2004 not to underestimate the foolishness of the American electorate. Jeff.

adan Posted August 19, 2007 Share #7 Posted August 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) IMHO the best official on-staff White House photographer (as opposed to outside journalists who made great White House shots along the line) was David Hume Kennerly during the brief Ford administration. Of course, he was also already a Pulitzer-prize winning photojournalist when he got the job. The things he did with Oval Office light, Tri-X and M4s are just beautiful. The Fords were fairly photo-savvy - the president's daughter [edit 2: Susan] interned as a photojournalist at the Topeka Capitol-Journal during that time under Rich Clarkson, himself a POY winner and later Photo Director at Nat. Geo. Further Edit: Just found this link, if you like White House photos, or just love beautiful B&W: Kennerly, Extraordinary Circumstances, University of Texas Press
