I do not think so. In the Leica App you get a live view but I cannot imagine it is possible to forward this stream. In addition I do not think Leica opened their API to allow third parties to implement software for the Q.

Does anybody know any software that can directly access the Q?

Anyway I would be very interested in using the Q via an API. I can control my Gopro via Python and that is a pleasure.

Is it possible to screen share the Leica app as a way of forwarding the live stream?  I am not sure how much compression is involved when going through the share streaming, and if that would negate the benefit of using the Q2 in the first place.

Thanks guys. I'm assuming it's not doable. For now, I will go with a Logitech Brio webcam. There are a number of webcam solutions for Nikon and Canon. Maybe after the pandemic, Leica may devise a future option for their cameras.

I have been wondering the same thing, hoping to use my Q (firmware 3.1) as an auxiliary camera for our live streaming events. We have a Blackmagic Design camera that we use through a ElGato cam link.

I bought a micro HDMI-HDMI cable to connect the Q to the cam link and then to a laptop running Streamlabs OBS. All that you get from the Q is a black screen with the red Leica dot logo in the middle. This is on live view and also after depressing the record button.

I get the same result trying to use the Q as an external camera for Zoom as well

I looked through the Q menus and could not find anything that would change the output.

Sadly is seems like this is a no-go for the Q, unless someone has some other technical advice.

I don't have a Q, but if it has HDMI out, which I think it does, then as jake-leica says, the Elgato Camlink 4k, or the Avermedia Extremecap UVC should work. The Camlink 4k does with my SL.

You'd need HDMI out.  Then it's easy with El Gato Camlink or other capture cards.

Thanks everyone for your replies and comments. It's clear that the Q is not set up to be used as a video cam like other SLRs. I purchased a Logitech Brio and it serves the purpose. It would be cool if Leica considered this for a future feature as a video cam use of that caliber would look much better than the Logitech solutions.

I want to confirm that it is possible to use Leica Q3 as a webcam; you need a capture card and software called OBS. Connect your Leica to the OBS dashboard and register it as one of the video sources. After that, you can use it as a source of Video in Zoom. It will registered as a USB video. I'm using an iMac if that helps.

Super cool.  Finally.  Now if only they'd make lens with it that doesn't require a ton of software correction to take a decent picture, it'd be tempting!
