rramesh Posted June 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I import a DNG from Leica M9 into Lightroom, I am able to see the specific lens model used to take the photo e.g. 'Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2.0'. However if I try to view the EXIF using other generic tools, including MacOS Preview or Photos, I am unable to see the lens model. I only get to see it as '28mm'. Where is this information stored in EXIF and is there a generic EXIF tool to access this?
Advertisement Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Hi rramesh, Take a look here EXIF Data. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ianman Posted June 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Whenever I need to view the complete data or need modify the data I use Exiftool https://exiftool.org/ I've just checked on of my DNG files and the information you are interested in is in the 'Lens Type' and 'Lens ID' fields. evikne Posted June 30, 2020 Share #3 Posted June 30, 2020 I prefer EXIF Editor because of the simple UI.

jankap Posted June 30, 2020 Share #5 Posted June 30, 2020 I use Lenstagger as plugin in LR. I have a Sony camera with Leica M and R lenses. Further a Lytro Illum camera, that exports no Exif data. Life is hard!
