BTW, since Andy mentioned the Saturn rings, I could see them very clearly last summer from the top of my house using my spotting scope at its maximum magnification (which is 45x). Very impressive to say the least. On the same accasion, I also got a very good view of Jupiter (and some of Jupiter's moons).
