Where are the lenses?

Leica seems to release lenses through smaller specialized Leica dealers

try Tamarkin/Kurland in NYC or Ken Hansen who sells Leica lenses out of his home in NY

Tony Rose at Popflash Photo is a well respected dealer who advertises here, but in going through their stock pages, most of the faster lenses are not available

a factor in US Leicas being in short supply may relate to the weak $ as well

you have to call around a bit ...it seems faster lenses are in short supply

I think it wise to buy now before any further price increases

Popflash and B&H are out. I will try the other route. Thanks

Meaning they are out of lenses you are looking for or you don't want to deal with any of them for whatever reasons? I am not quite sure which....

Leica Camera Berlin has several lenses in at the moment, and can ship worldwide. I think they have a decent selection of 35/50/75/90 lenses, but are lacking wides.

I also heard today that so many people are buying and ordering Noctiluxes at this point in time, even at the new price, that Leica is considering refusing orders for a while. He promised me that my Noctilux would take longer than 4 months to get to me :)

They are apparently having some trouble with glass types, as both Schott and Corning and Hoya, the three suppliers, are not able to deliver certain types of glass at a sufficiently high quality any more. This is why the Tri-Elmar was cancelled, by the way. They got samples from all three suppliers, and the quality was too low in each case. Impurities, improper cooling, and so on. Apparently a small number or TEs were made with the new glass, and deemed not good enough, and are just sitting on some shelf now. I find this a bit schocking, to be honest. What is the world coming to when even the best glass suppliers in the world can't deliver glass of a sufficiently high quality for Leica?
