Hi guys,

How easy/possible is it to increase the click for an M lens aperture ring? Mine are all used, early 90's models and while the 28 and 90 both have a nice, firm click my 50mm has basically none. It's not a huge deal when looking, but it's next to impossible to know where you're at by counting/feeling the clicks.

Thanks!

My understanding about Leica's aperture click is created by a tiny ball bearing, a thin metal and dimples.  The thin metal pushes the ball bearing against the body with dimple, each dimple represents each aperture.  If there is no click the ball bearing is missing and there is no firm or weak clicks adjustment according to this design.  I can't say your lens has the same design but some do according to my personal experience.

questions, has someone opened the lens before?  is it under warranty?

My Summicron 50 IV lost its bearing after a fall. It completely disappeared. So the ring was just freely rotating. [Movie makers would love that.]

Sent it back to Wetzlar for total CLA / readjustment. Just like the focus ring that was a bit loose. Good job, relubricated too, the lens feels very good now.
