LawP Posted June 14, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Has anyone had any issues with the lens hood alignment on the Q2. When I first got my Q2 the hood tightened perfectly, since then I only took it off once to install a UV filter and again no issue. However last week I was testing a close up filter and when putting it back on it seemed to tighten up before it aligned. I was fearful of over-tightening but continued in small increments until it aligned. I then took it off because I was worried about damaging the lens. Anyone with similar experience? thanks

stuny Posted June 14, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2020 Just about every Q & Q2 owner has had that experience. It's OK to keep tightening, but if you're nervous dry rubbing some greace from the side of your nose on the threads first. Welcome aboard the forum. Leica Guy Posted June 14, 2020 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2020 (edited) Ah, I'd be careful. If you have a filter that is too thick it will rub against the inside of the hood. I would not personally put that kind of pressure on the hood threads if there's interference with a filter. Best to get a thinner filter or remove the filter. I use the B&W or Leica UV filter and have no interference with the hood when it's fully installed to the stop. +1 on the oil from the side of your nose. It really does work well. LawP Posted June 14, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted June 14, 2020 I have B&W filter, perhaps it came loose a bit. I will try without the filter and see. Thanks for the responses.
