bayerische Posted August 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So due to the increase in price coming up, I decided not to buy my M8 in Florida, but to go into my local Leica dealer and pick one up.

bayerische Posted August 14, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted August 14, 2007 Thank you all! It's been a long wait for me. (about a year) Via an Epson RD-1, that gave me great pictures, but the M8 seems so much better. Now I just have to start using it. Too bad it's raining cats & dogs in Helsinki today. BTW I really like the Phase One software provided with the M8.

Iron Flatline Posted August 14, 2007 Share #12 Posted August 14, 2007 Got one the same way - called, and he said "Come on down." It was in LA in January, and he said "I have one of these 28mm Elmarit lenses, want one?" - so that was my start into M8 life. Chrome, baby - all the way. carstenw Posted August 14, 2007 Share #13 Posted August 14, 2007 Same with me. I was curious and went down to a demo-day, and just for kicks, without commitment or downpayment, signed up for one, cancellable anytime. Too soon I got the call, and went down to take a look. Falling in love, I ran out to my bank. Picked up a 50 Lux Asph at the same time. The reputation of this lens was too good to resist. Money has been tight ever since, but a steady stream of lenses finds it way to my door.
bayerische Posted August 14, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted August 14, 2007 A total stranger, altough a nice man started to speak to me today about the M8 in Helsinki! He started to speak to me in german, but soon noticed I was a fin, altough I probably looked like a tourist . I also noticed two somewhat younger men looking at my M8 without confronting me about it. Great fun!
bayerische Posted August 14, 2007 Author Share #15 Posted August 14, 2007 Here's a quick pic out of Phase one. Critics not necessary, I'm just enjoying my new M8! Whoopee!

Openly pushing their wares and getting us innocent folk hooked. Its a slippery and expensive slope.
Kent10D Posted August 15, 2007 Share #18 Posted August 15, 2007 I propose we have an "LA" forum ("Leica Anonymous," or perhaps "Lenses Anonymous"). When I first bought my M8 I figured two lenses. Maybe three at the most. Who'd need more? I now have eight, and am not expecting that to be the end of it. I am quite enjoying my addiction, though. Even the wife seems to be tolerating it quite well (better than collecting Ferraris, I guess).
larryk34 Posted August 15, 2007 Share #19 Posted August 15, 2007 Any of us who are married and bought M8s with new lenses must have some of the greatest wives in the world. I just sprang a new 28mm f2.8 Asph on her without prior notice. No visible problem . . . yet. Now if she would just pose more often. . .
