Hello Forum,

I wanted to share with you my newest addition, a ridicoulous way to use a lens i haven't used in more than a year. The 50mm f1.2 was my grail when i started photogrpahy, i mounted it on a 70D and got for the most part amazing results, at 1.2 on an APSC it was always soft and under performant. So after upgrading to a M10-p I put it aside and enjoyed my leica lenses. 

I have been staring at it since, gathering dust, stuck in my past, an old friend that couldn't travel with me anymore. Having only Cron' s in my arsenal i sometimes missed the bokeh i used to get with the 50-35 ultra fast primes that i had on my canon, I was considering a Noctilux. Of course like many of us, way out of budget, even used. Looked at the 0.95, the 1 and cried when i saw some 1.2 going for 20k+. so i looked around and saw that it was possible, with some limitation of course, using canon EF lenses on a leica. 

Ridiculous I know, and yet i purchased a gobe fiter, arrived today, took a shot, and holy crap - Sharp, creamy, with some contrast! Amazing, with 30€ i managed to resurect a friend. Gave it life once again and I will take it out tonight to get some bokeh goodness. It is of course only usable with a EVF and is stuck at f1.2 ... but let's be honest, we dont buy a 0.95-1.2 lens to shoot it at f11.

have you checked those new voigtlander f/1.2 lenses?  half the size and price, rangefinder compatible, plenty of good.

jaeger, you beat me to it! When you get tired of dealing with the limitations of the Canon on the M10, I would seriously consider the CV 50/1.2. A fantastic lens! I reviewed it for the LHSA Viewfinder and liked it so much, I purchased it.

I did consider it a while back, but once again it is a "high" price, although its a great lens my plan was to have a fast prime protrait lens, for my general, street photogrpahy i use my 50mm Cron, much smaller and faster and don't need a F1.2. So for that purpose and for 30 € this will do the trick for now. I  do beleive that this is a gateway drug and in 6 months i will buy a summilux 😂

Thanks ERA23, I’ve been intrigued by several canon lenses, the 85 /1.2 and 11-24.  The Canon fisheye 8-15 that I use occasionally has been adapted similar to your 50 to my M, no focus necessary and always at 5.6.   Iirc several of their lenses are focus by wire and can’t be used on the M, the 85 being one.  If you want to use the 50 at another aperture remove it from the canon body while stopped down, it will hold that setting.

The older Canon lenses of the FD and R series can be adapted to digital Leica M with EVF better than the Canon lenses of the EF series.
My old Canon FD 1.2-50L, much slimmer and smaller than the same chunky EF version, is not bad on the M10-P and of course you can set aperture and distance manually.
Nevertheless, I prefer the Summicron 2.0-50 IV because I don't want to miss the optical rangefinder at 50mm.

However, it's sometimes funny using the old Canon R 8.0-500mm mirror lens on the M10-P.
Thanks to the high usable ISO values, pictures can even be taken by hand without a tripod.

I have read that before, but thank you very much for the reminder, i might put it at 1.4 just because the depth of fiel is ridicoulous at 1.2!

The FD adapter was going to be my next one, i have indeed wanted to get into ultra telephotos for wildlife i am happy to see that the results are amazing! Beautiful picture

I can vouch for the FD 1.2L.  It's the main reason I keep around my Canon F1n.

Ridiculous, but have to admit I kind of like it.  I've been known to use Pentax M42 Takumar lenses on my M-mount rangefinders  Not as crazy as this, but still feels silly.

I will definetly purchase a either a Canon 50mm FD 1.2 or a Voigtlander f1.2 at some point but i have a few more lenses on my list before these :Voigtlander 21mm f1.4 and the Voigtlander 75mm f1.5. The dream is also to purchse the Dream lens 50mm 0.95 canon but as they are becoming rarer and more difficult to fix it wouldn't be the wiset invesment.

Very interesting this lens has matching adapter for M mount. I liked this lens on 5D.
