IanH Posted April 16, 2020 Share #1  Posted April 16, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I have a Canadian V2 35mm Cron. I was wondering if it’s possible to fit the v4 pre-ASPH rectangular hood? I prefer it over the circular hood. Purely aesthetic whim - I’m shallow. Alternatively, could people recommend a 3rd party rectangular compact hood for this lens? I’d prefer metal to plastic, but open  to ideas.  thanks,  Ian

a.noctilux Posted April 16, 2020 Share #2  Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) Possible with some customizing ... The Summicron IV 's hood 12524/12526 has a tab to prevent it turning mounted on the lens. The 2/35 IV has the V shape cut out to accept it. None of the 35mm Cron I/II/III has this cut-out so you may shave the hood's tab, but this can turn mounted on the lens, I put a rubber band on the groove, to prevent it turning.  We can see here the "thing" to prevent the hood from rotating Welcome, dear visitor! IanH Posted April 17, 2020 Author Share #3  Posted April 17, 2020 Thanks @a.noctilux, I used to have that hood on my v1 35mm cron ASPH, I didn’t realise it was from the v4. Thanks for the modification tip too.
a.noctilux Posted April 17, 2020 Share #4 Â Posted April 17, 2020 12524 was regular hood for Summicron-M 35mm pre-asph (version IV). By then, no cap for hood was available. The hood was mildly modified to accept the 14043 hood rubber cap when Summicron-M 2/35 Asph. came with order number 12526 hood.
