Advertisement Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Hi fursan, Take a look here M8 backup body/system. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted August 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2007 What do/would you use as a backup for your M8? A second M8. But if I'm going somewhere, driving there, specifically for photography then I will take both M8's with all lenses and a Nikon D200 with a few lenses. cam2000 Posted August 11, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2007 Answer to that is ....... Would you be happy with something less than your actual M8 image quality and handling? I bought 4 months later a second M8 and use both..... sometimes when I do not have time to change lens with fast moving situations.
Cindy Flood Posted August 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2007 I have an M5, M6 and Canon XTi (use with Leica-R 35mm, 60mm macro, and 180mm and a couple of Canon AF lenses). I still enjoy shooting film, and the little XTi is handy for macro and wildlife.

fursan Posted August 11, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted August 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cindy, you have at least 2 film and 1 digital backups. would your xti be your primary b/u? I have an M5, M6 and Canon XTi (use with Leica-R 35mm, 60mm macro, and 180mm and a couple of Canon AF lenses). I still enjoy shooting film, and the little XTi is handy for macro and wildlife. cam2000 Posted August 11, 2007 Share #8 Posted August 11, 2007 Digital photography will still be more expensive than any other camera equipment with film because there will still be more and more new summits to be discovered! When a new film was introduced to the market we did not have to change cameras to use it! Hopefully we will learn to content ourselves with the present M8 and new software up-dates ...... and pray that the M9 does not arrive to soon! :) Happy trails to you...... Shootist Posted August 11, 2007 Share #9 Posted August 11, 2007 Jacques, i would not be happy with less than iq of a m8. When or where does the spending stop? My spending has stopped, well almost I have a lens at Solms for service. I have 2 M8's and all focal lengths from 21 to 135 lenses. I don't see the need for my type of shooting for anything wider then 21mm, that is at this time.

simon_hughes Posted August 11, 2007 Share #15 Posted August 11, 2007 I just picked my two M8s this morning, but I'll throw my D-LUX 2 in the bag as well, and my wife has the V-LUX 1. That gives a pretty good coverage.

Cindy Flood Posted August 12, 2007 Share #20 Posted August 12, 2007 Cindy, you have at least 2 film and 1 digital backups. would your xti be your primaryb/u? I don't use the Xti unless I know I will be shooting wildlife or fast action. My most used backup now is the M6. I still enjoy scanning the negatives. My camera bag contains the M8, M6 and usually 3 or 4 lenses.
