wlaidlaw Posted August 12, 2007 Share #21 Posted August 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If it's Megaperls you're referring to then yes, they do ship to the UK. Very fast and friendly no communications difficulties at all. I've purchased several difficult to get (in the UK) items in the past and had excellent service. Bob. Bob, This is MapCamera. I suspect I may have a bit of a language problem when I ask about Balsam separation! Wilson

wlaidlaw Posted August 12, 2007 Share #23 Posted August 12, 2007 I have also seen viewfinder magnifiers in 0.85x and 1.25x sizes from Hong Kong Suppies on eBay. They ship to the Americas, Europe, Australia and Asia. I'm not sure if these are one-in-the-same as those from Megaperls. A concern, I read, for eyeglass wearers, was whether one could scratch their glasses on the surface of one of these. Geoff MySpace.com - g e o f f - 100 - Männlich - PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - www.myspace.com/geoffotos Geoff, If you are using one of the ones with variable dioptre, the whole point is that you would not need to wear glasses. If I had seen one of these before I bought my Leica one, I would have gone for it. Using the Leica one with Varifocal glasses is a bit of a lottery. I did not buy the HK supplies ones, as you correctly point out - no rubber buffer to protect eye-glasses. Wilson

Wilson I have seen and looked through the Megaperl one and to me it seems to distort the viewfinger image. I really don't notice this with the Leica unit, and yes I adjusted it to my diopter needs. Still looked distorted.

norm_snyder Posted August 12, 2007 Share #26 Posted August 12, 2007 Wilson-- I got the Leica magnifier for the same reason--rubber surround to avoid scratching glasses. My Domke 803 interior seems to scrape that off about half the time, so--black gaffer tape appears to be to solution. If I'd known that, I could have gotten the H-K version. Oh, well--it does improve my "keeper" percentage with the 75 Summilux. -Norm
