Advertisement Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Hi Mo(w)gli, Take a look here Q2 face detection. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Everyframecounts Posted October 10, 2020 Share #22 Posted October 10, 2020 In real life the face detection is completely useless on the q2. The whole af system would need a complete redesign comparing to pretty much any other camera on the market. Sad though, because in most other ways its the best digital camera ever produced in my opinion. But to some extent I think they settled for it to be jewelry rather than a work horse even though it had all the potential in the world.
vedivv Posted October 16, 2020 Share #23 Posted October 16, 2020 It is pretty sad situation. Tried sending Leica emails. Had numerous discussions on this topic. And seeing SL2 having eye detection and Panasonic updating their AF, it is maddening that Leica doesn't realize a firmware to address this issue for one of their best selling camera. macmania Posted October 16, 2020 Share #24 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) Hi, my experience is, with the Firmware 1.x the face detection worked perfect, i nailed the focus at almost every street shot wide open at (1.7, continous mode, fast shooting while walking past people). Since new firmware 2.0 this doesn't work that good anymore. I get almost 60% of this kind of shots out of focus. The camera doesn't get focus anymore. Even stopped down the lens, not better at all. It now only works when doing portrait photography where you have the face clearly in front of your lens and have time to focus or try again when the camera misses face. Is this issue known at Leica? Did someone go back to old firmware? is this possible? greetz Edited October 16, 2020 by macmania

SL2 has brand new Maestro III. Q2 only got 5 years old Maestro II. So don’t expect any miracle for Q2.

Than 47MP thin f/1.7 full frame depth of field. Edited October 18, 2020 by nicci78

This camera can't even find a face most of the time let alone track one.

But i have to admit that i photograph 98% dead things, almost never alive things so Tracking AF and Face Detection is useless for my use.
