shirubadanieru Posted March 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask. I have been looking for a hood for my Nikkor 3.5cm f1.8 ltm version, and couldn’t find a lot of information online. I found the original hood for the S mount version of this lens, but given that the barrel design between the S version and the LTM version is rather different I wasn’t sure if that hood would fit into the ltm version. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you!
Advertisement Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Hi shirubadanieru, Take a look here Hood for Nikkor 3.5cm f1.8 ltm . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ecar Posted March 27, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 27, 2020 I also have the LTM version of this lens, along with the original hood (stashed away somewhere in the basement a long time ago...), but not the S version. Therefore, even assuming I could retrieve the hood, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to check. However, IIRC the original hood blocks a fairly large chunk of the viewfinder and is prone to falling off easily. For years now, I have happily been using a generic 43mm screw-in hood that provides sufficient protection (the "straight" kind, not a "tilted" one, which may cause vignetting, especially with a filter).
Pyrogallol Posted March 27, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 27, 2020 (edited) I haven’t seen the f1.8 version, but I do have two of the f3.5 versions, all chrome and “black belt” as well as some f3.5 and f2.5 in S mount. a picture of your f1.8 would be interesting to see. Hello, I cannot answer your question directly right now yet I have both versions of the lens and never use the original clip on hood which tends to fall off the lens rapidly. I am using a screwable generic e43 "wide" hood. Best regards, JM. Welcome, dear visitor! I really love the black belt design of the ltm Nikkors : ) the f2.5 is one of the ‘cutest’ lenses ever made for Leica in my opinion. Unfortunately my f1.8 is now being CLAed and will be out until June, happy to post once it gets back : )

Ecar Posted March 28, 2020 Share #10 Posted March 28, 2020 Tom Abrahamsson passed away three years ago. He was mostly active on RFF and a true rangefinder expert. He used to have various accessory items made (notably soft release buttons) and sold them to the RF community, via Cameraquest I believe. These included small batches of (improved) replica, hard-to-find Nikon hoods (35/1.8 and 50/1.1 come to mind, but there may have been others). I doubt another batch will ever be made, so eBay - or asking around on RFF - may be your best bet if you really want one of these.
