wlaidlaw Posted August 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just installed iPhoto 08 as part of the new iLife 08 package. Much improved and it will make things a lot easier to organize in a library. The merge and split for events, which replace rolls is a great feature. The new iMovie almost makes me want to take videos but not quite. Garage Band has zero interest to me. Given how I have struggled with Dreamweaver 8, I might cave in and join .Mac so that I can then use the much simpler iWeb. Wilson
Advertisement Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Hi wlaidlaw, Take a look here iPhoto 08 - it seems a significant improvement. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Essemmlee Posted August 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2007 Have you tried Shutterbug? I have never come across an easier way to design and organize a website and it is specifically aimed at photographers. It's so simple, or as complex as you wish it be, everything else seems outdated. I once thought RapidWeaver was simple but there is no comparison, and it's cheap.

I originally wrote it in Frontpage on Windows. It needs updating plus I wanted to put in online appointment making and we don't have any Windows machines any longer. I therefore bought an OEM Mac version of Dreamweaver 8 but as I have learnt, it it not really a self teach product, even with Dreamweaver 8 for Dummies and D8 The Missing Manual. I think really we may need to use a professional web designer but I will give iWeb a go first. Wilson
wlaidlaw Posted August 11, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted August 11, 2007 Two major problems. If you use iPhoto as your image library as I do, on version 08, you can no longer look inside it as it is one package file instead of a folder. This has one serious consquence and one irritation. Serious problem - you can no onger use Adobe Bridge to search for images, whre you want more than the basic EXIF. Major irritation - screen saver now uses only upscaled thumbnails and dispalys images of very low quality. I have posted queries on both these on the Apple Discussion Forum but no anwers to date. I use iWeb to make the site, publish it to a folder on my hard drive, and then upload it to my domain with Fetch using the 'Mirror Folder' function. Give it a try...

In that we already own the domain, which is hosted by 1&1, that would be a better route. I will give that a go. How do you get round the fact that you have to sign in to .Mac to start the program? wlaidlaw Posted August 11, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted August 11, 2007 How about just closing the dialog that offers you to sign up for .Mac? Bernd Every time I did that iWeb 08 shut down. I have repaired permissions and reinstalled and now I can use it without .Mac - thanks for help. Wilson
