vanhulsenbeek Posted August 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! Am writing this mid-term in a month-long vacation in 'East of Bali" Indonesia and I must say my M8 does not disappoint me. There are a couple of pictures and 3 short travellogs on Sander and Ger on Tour for those interested. I shoot most on DaylightWB and A (except panorama's of course) . The only issue that popped up was a striped screen when I changed from the WATE to the Macro 90E without shutting the camera down. One normal shutdown cured that problem. One issue in the positive sense: when I shoot panorama's (like 15 pictures in a 180 degree go) I have several times shut the camera down out of habit before all was recorded. It ignored my shutdown, faithfully kept on processing untill all pictures were processed, whereafter it shut itself down. Nice! No problems with heat or humidity, not even in the jungle. I keep the camera in an air/dust tight Ortlieb camarabag.

steve_l Posted August 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2007 airtight or not is a big question - conventional wisdom says that "airtight" encourages fungis growth on lens surfaces, and air exchange is needed
Skippy Sanchez Posted August 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2007 i always bring along a pack or two of dessicants when i'm in honduras. they go with lenses & cameras into a pelican case overnight. i'm not so concerned about rain; humidity will easily seep into gear in the tropics. Regular drying in moderate aircon conditions is the best way to handle camera plus lenses. If that is not available for a longer time, dessicants should be used.
