bcorton Posted August 10, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted August 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings, Â A while back I read a thread dedicated to the question of whether Leica digital cameras(esp. the M8) were robust enough to go in the saddlebags for extended motorcycle travel. Â Let me just add my two cents about the R9 and dmr. I recently returned from a 5,800 mile ride with my R9 and DMR tucked in a Billingham Hadley and stowed in the top case of my K1200LT. Sans problem. Why, it didn't even flinch when I knocked over the tripod and the DMR hit a rock while I was hiking in glacier (oops). Â Anyway, camera, dmr, and lenses (21-35 and 80-200) all survived the trip just fine and seem none the worse for wear (minus the ding from the rock.) I just thought I'd add my own anecdotal experience. Â Cheers, Â Brent (the other Brent)

mitchell Posted August 10, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted August 10, 2007 When my DMR/R9 was brand new, I was hiking down a rocky trail at Ghost Ranch, NM, and suddenly felt my pack get lighter, immediately followed by a loud clunk of metal and rock. I was afraid to turn around. Â DMR/R9 never missed a beat though it does have dings. Â Best, Â Mitchell

bcorton Posted August 21, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted August 21, 2007 To Conrad and Andy (and anyone else who is interested), Â I finally posted a few images from the trip in the Landcape and Travel section. This was my first attempt at posting photos online, so please forgive any technical shortcomings as I work my way up the learning curve. Here's the url for the first of three posts. (I was going to make it a hyper link, but could not figure out how.) http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/31897-recent-motorcycle-trip.html (EDIT: Hey . . . ain't automation great?) Â Sanghar, Â That's a fun photo, but brings back a painful memory of riding my bicycle abreast of some other boys with fishing poles on bicycles, and ending up with a hook in my forehead. Do be careful ; ) Â (the other) Brent
