davidmknoble Posted March 14, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have to say, after using multiple film and digital bodies with Leica over the years one wish that has not materialized is the battery on the S and SL system. Film cameras all use the same battery from the M6, M6ttl, M7 and MP. Leica decided with the Q2 to use the same battery as the SL, SL2. However, the best charger Leica ever made was the dual pro charger for the S battery. I wish the SL series and the S series took the same battery and I could use the dual charger with it. The SL works great with S lenses (even though there are now some incredible SL lenses). In event, that is my wish. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The SL2 has more functions to power than the earlier designs too. You couldn’t shoehorn the S battery into any SL though without a hammer or increasing the camera body size. . For the S system the battery capacity had to be increased over the S2 original although the enclosure is the same. Looking at an SL2 battery its capacity is actually higher than the S one. Maybe the S4 will use the SL2 battery... or a cold fusion power cell by the time any S4 might appear 😂 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

More importantly, it would have at least been nice if either SL or S battery could have been charged in the dual charger. Would have cut down on chargers...
