Keith (M) Posted February 26, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I load a user profile it shows on the lcd - fine. But after the camera has been turned off then on again, the profile has not been retained - I have to select it again. Surely once selected, the profile should remain active until another one is selected? Maybe I am missing something here?
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Hi Keith (M), Take a look here Keeping a user profile active. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Keith (M) Posted February 27, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted February 27, 2020 Delving further into this annoyance, it would appear to happen only with uncoded lenses. Example - I fit my 35mm Summaron f2.8, go to Lens Detection and choose Manual M then one of the listed 35mm lenses and save the profile as a named one. In User profiles, check to make sure that named profile is active. Exiting the menu screen, press the centre button on the back and the named profile will be shown on the rear screen. Turn the camera off then on, press the centre button - no profile active. With a coded lens fitted and Lens Selection set to Auto, repeat the saving and naming a profile sequence, turn the camera off then on, press the centre button - bingo, the named profile appears. Something to add to the 'Firmware Improvement List'.
shirubadanieru Posted February 28, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2020 What happened to me is when lenses with l mount to m mount adapter, the part of the mount that reads the code is not covered by the adapter therefore when I change lenses or turn off the camera the lens selection always reverts to auto despite me making a manual selection...the only turnaround here is to turn off the lens detection, then it does not revert to auto. It’s a bit different from your issue but it might be related so sharing just in case. also if you are not comfortable turning off lens selection the the second best thing is to simply not turn off the camera given it goes into sleep mode after two minutes and does not use battery in this state
Keith (M) Posted February 28, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted February 28, 2020 Thanks. What bugs (!) me is that with my M240 the selected profile is retained whether it be with coded or uncoded lenses - including my LTM 5cm Summicron (where the adaptor leaves the code reader window uncovered). Definitely does not happen with the M10M.
Keith (M) Posted March 5, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted March 5, 2020 Speaking with Service/Support at Leica UK today about a different matter, I mentioned this problem with user profiles/uncoded lenses and have now received an email saying it has been forwarded to Wetzlar. Hopefully the issue will be corrected in the next Firmware update.
Keith (M) Posted March 5, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted March 5, 2020 The problem with user profiles/uncoded lenses will now be looked into by the software developers at Wetzlar. Would other M10M owners who have uncoded lenses please see if they have the problem. 1) Fit an uncoded lens, select 'Manual' in Lens Detection and chose an appropriate lens. 2) In User Profiles choose 'Save as a User Profile' and name it. 3) In 'Load profile' choose the new one and 'active' should appear next to it. 4) Exit Menu then press the centre button on the four-way and check that the named profile appears on the screen. 5) Turn the camera off then on - check the rear screen via the centre button - does the new named profile appear? All responses appreciated!

Same with the M10.
