Guest sirvine Posted August 8, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted August 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Apple released an update to the photo galleries on its .Mac service the other day. For those of us insane enough to pay $100 per year for .Mac, it seems we finally have a worthy reason. This is one of the nicest online galleries I've seen. Advertisement Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Hi Guest sirvine, Take a look here New .Mac Photo Galleries. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 9, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted August 9, 2007 THat is certainly pretty slick. Â I wonder if they let you customise the template, or, like iWeb, it's a bit "what we want you to have is what you are going to get"?
Venkman Posted August 9, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted August 9, 2007 I like the navigational elements, which is very Apple - but the quality of the photos is awful, they are shown in pixels the size of my hand - is that just a demo compression or the real deal? Â [edit] I know that it takes a moment to render from preview to final view, but even the final view suffers a case of blocks.
spylaw4 Posted August 9, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted August 9, 2007 I think you need iLife'08 or at least the latest version of iPhoto 7 (7.0.1) to get that facility. iLife'08 has an enhanced iWeb programme which I am just playing around with - I hope to upload a revised gallery shortly (watch my signature). Michael-IIIf Posted August 9, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted August 9, 2007 Apple released an update to the photo galleries on its .Mac service the other day. For those of us insane enough to pay $100 per year for .Mac, it seems we finally have a worthy reason. Â But the B*&^*%ts still haven't improved their server speed. I've just tried to look at the link you've provided and got bored waiting for it to load. I do a bit of web design (on my Mac) and one of the forums I participate in has regular complaints from other .Mac users on this terrible slowness. Poor value for a hundred bucks - or worse, GBP 68.99 (USD $135.91) here - for no reason other than greed. Â But I still keep using it
Guest sirvine Posted August 9, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted August 9, 2007 Michael, Â Part of the reason is that it seems to generate these thumbnails that are animated previews of every shot in the gallery---takes a while to load those. Â I still haven't gotten behind the scenes to fiddle with these galleries, so I have more questions than answers.
