Hi there,

I used a SL ages ago ( ice age, give or take ) and LENR ( long exposure noise reduction, the dark frame that the camera automaticaly takes after a long exposure ) coudlnt be turned off ( as it can't on a M camera ).

As far I've read, you can do turn it off in SL2.

Any firmware updates on the original SL so you can turn it off now ? Or still no go ?

I haven't seen any FW update relating to this. As far as I'm aware LENR still can't be turned off on the SL601.

The SL2 has a main menu entry to control LENR.  The SL with the firmware that was just released (3.7) does not have any entry at that position for LENR.  I think that process is pretty deep down in the operating system that runs the camera.  It took multiple, persistent complainers to get it addressed in the SL2.  And, mirabile dictu, some of those happy to be able to turn LENR off have discovered that there are quite a few hot pixels at exposures of 10 minutes or more.
