starckimages Posted February 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) JUST acquired S2-P (without Eng instructions) Can anyone explain how to set camera for mono (black & white) image setting please? Are there settings that prevent this option from showing? Thx
Advertisement Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Hi starckimages, Take a look here S2-P Hidden monochrome setting?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 12, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2020 B&W is a JPG setting only. If you shoot DNG, the file will always contain full colour information. The JPG from DNG+JPG can be rendered in B&W though.
starckimages Posted February 12, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 12, 2020 Thx for quick reply. So, If I set camera to jpeg only, where is B&W setting?

Jeff S Posted February 12, 2020 Share #7 Posted February 12, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) But why would you want to waste all that powerful DNG potential? Jeff
starckimages Posted February 12, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted February 12, 2020 Many thx for your comments. b&w I find is tucked away as option in bottom of ‘saturation’ thx
starckimages Posted February 12, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted February 12, 2020 Hi Milan - Thx for welcome! will be a Summarit 70mm. Looking forward to it. Jeff, I take your point about DNG but needed to know how to get to b&w - not an obvious positioning of selector! But, during my research before buying, I checked out many files online inc sample images within reviews and many of the jpegs were superb at 100%. So will certainly try out and if not happy will convert to mono from DNG. Thx

Of course one can shoot as both DNG and JPEG, and at least have the options available. I prefer to control editing rather than let the gear do it, and preserve all the file data in case software changes or improves over time and I want to revisit a pic. But we each have our own styles and preferences....no right or wrong. Jeff
Stuart Richardson Posted February 13, 2020 Share #11 Posted February 13, 2020 If you just want your photos excellent right out of camera, there are few better cameras than the S2 or S006...obviously DNG has its major benefits, but as far as cameras to shoot jpeg with, the S2 is a good choice!
