Yes if you have the correct hood older 12585 hood doesn't separate (not for the 35 f1.4 anyway). You can get a Chinese version of the separating hood for about $50 on E**y, the Leica versions are 5 to 6x that.

The B+W 486 IR cut filters work well, I couldn't find one in Series 7, a 49mm works in the separating hood, you just don't have a lot of thread grab with the hood part, but I haven't had it come apart.
