raphael Posted February 2, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks to your kind advices I'm planning to pick up a Zeiss Biogon 35/2.8 😍 Weight, compactness and price seems to be really good deal for that performance. However I'm struggling with the color. I have a silver Leica M10 and I do like the classic, timeless look of silver bodies and lenses. The silver Elmar-M 50/2.8 looks AWESOME on that M10. Two years ago I bought a silver Zeiss C-Sonnar 50/1.5 and found out that it looks more like Nickel than like silver. Ugh. Don't like that mismatch. Welcome, dear visitor! The Zeiss Website shows the Biogon in a more silver-like image rather than Nickel on the C-Sonnar: Any experience of you guys? 😊
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Hi raphael, Take a look here Zeiss C-Biogon 35/2.8 silver or black on a silver body?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted February 2, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2020 Another fashionista...😁 My experience with Zeiss is that their silver is distinctly a "cooler" silver than my Leica lenses. QED...I'd choose black.
raphael Posted February 2, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 2, 2020 Thanks for your reply. Why black? Suits better on the digital Leica bodies?
rramesh Posted February 3, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) Love OCD. You can also buy red dots on eBay to replace the blue ones. Of course, they may come across a little pink. Edited February 3, 2020 by rramesh

Film or digital bodies...doesn't matter. It is the silver mismatch which directs me to favor the black...which at least, to my eye, presents a better consistency. But to each his/her own. Since you're conflicted, I'd suggest taking your body and visiting a dealer to see which YOU prefer.
james.liam Posted February 3, 2020 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2020 I’d have to agree with the silver finish mismatch and silver bodies. Looks a bit off especially if it happens to be the one camera body you have.
pedaes Posted February 3, 2020 Share #7 Posted February 3, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) FWIW . The Zeiss on M10 and alongside 50mm Summicron. I think the Zeiss Silver looks fine in silver bodies.IMHO. Incidentally the 35/2.8 is a fantastic lens that i personally use more than 35 Summilux. Sean Reid describes it as one of best 35's he has ever tested, and sharper than Zeiss f2. Welcome, dear visitor! earleygallery Posted February 3, 2020 Share #8 Posted February 3, 2020 I'd be more worried about the typeface on the lenses not matching the body. Oh what a cruel world! 1

haikos Posted February 5, 2020 Share #10 Posted February 5, 2020 I have a black biogon and a silver c sonnar on a chrome M4. There is a mismatch in the two silver finishes but it is relatively subtle. I can’t say whether one looks better or worse. Keep in mind the lens hood will be black whether you get a black or a silver ZM lens.
