Last outing with S1R, my new personal record for shortest period of owning an imaging device.  Fantastic IQ, ergonomic, mind-boggling feature set with, unfortunately, too many buttons, dials, and options for my simple mind . . .

 . . . with Lumix S Pro 70-200mm f2.8/2X . . .

If it looks blurry, click on it for more detail . . .

Same here Rob, great camera, but all those buttons & features gave me a headache every time I picked up the camera. I sold the S1R went back to my SL, was happy & at peace with the world again, until the SL2 came along.... which I've had for almost a year & really like.

Nice shot.

+1

SL2 is best image taking device I’ve ever owned, demoed or rented ( and that’s a pretty long list ). I don’t even “think” about other cameras except when I need to travel light which is when Q2 comes into play.

Also as one uses the SL2 and bonds with its intuitive controls, the shooting experience becomes more and more seamless with an ever shortening distance between concept, idea or feeling, to visualisation, planning and execution. At the end of the day isn’t that what photography is all about?

I never cease to marvel at the talent and meticulous product planning that goes into creating a camera that is beautiful in its industrial design, feels good in the hand (brilliant refinement to grip) and most importantly meets 95% of its design goals in terms of utility. I held back 5% for less than perfect auto focus performance :)

Nowhere near any bird Photographers ability but this young fella comes every morning & sings us his song. Really difficult to get a bird shot, this is the best I managed with the S1R and Leica 80-200 f4.0

Have you used your Panasonic S1 with any OLDER Leica M lenses?

I used it last year, for a month, so not nearly enough, with a few borrowed lenses:

Voigtländer 15 I

Cron 35, 50, 90:

Apo-Telyt 135 f/3.4

The Voigtländer had lots of issues with vignetting, sharpness and flare.

I didn't like the 90mm, there was loss of contrast on many occasions.

50mm was fine, while probably the best performers were the Cron 35 and especially the Apo-Telyt.

Honestly, they are all evaluations that make no difference.
