Perhaps an older topic but I plan on selling my Canon R and RF lenses — keeping my EF lenses for use on my Leica SL 601 and new L mount body to be purchased.

Most of my work is landscapes.

The Novoflex is the only adapter for EF lenses with AF etc. on my SL 601.  The Sigma works on SL2 and Panasonic. Apparently the SL2 and Panasonic S1/S1R can use either.

I’ll always have a SL but after selling Canon, I’ll get another SL, or a SL2, or a Panasonic... but I’d like to shoot Canon glass occasionally on both bodies.

Is my only option to buy a Novoflex?

If you stick with the SL601 then the Novoflex is your only option. The Sigma MC-21 works on the SL2 and Lumix L mount bodies.

I have both adapters and have run some tests. See link below.

When comparing the 2 adapters on the SL2, there's no question that the Sigma MC-21 adapter offers a far more seamless and better user experience. AF is accurate, not lightning fast, but perfectly acceptable. The Novoflex hunts all over the place to achieve focus. Sigma also offers regular firmware updates for the adapter.

If you end up with an SL & SL2 it may be worth investing in both adapters. I now use the Novoflex as a dumb adapter on my CL body see post #3 in the thread below.
