Kasane is a border town, between Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia, on the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers. Just about all freight between those countries concentrates here. For many decades there were just a few primitive ferries. Now Chinese companies have moved in to build a megalomanic bridge; the traffic will benefit, but the local micro-economy from souvenir and food sellers,  customs "assistants", to ferry operators and truck positioners, which supports hundreds of people, will die off... And not one local is involved in building the bridge..

The little launch in the background is one of many passenger "ferries".
