I have 2 M7s and they are beautiful and a joy to use. If you don't want to use the Aperture Priority then don't. I do when necessary and am amazed at the near perfection of the camera. I put motor drives on each and can really crank out the film now!

i think the problem is it was an Evilbay buy and already had a problem - which is now your problem. You pays your money and you takes your chances! as they say.

get it fixed and you will not regret it.

Steve

If you want to hear from this zealot about the M8 I can accomodate you there also!

Cheers!

This M7 had already a problem, like many other M7 cameras. What has E bay to do with this?

That people want to sell their bad M7 on E bay?

Have you tried therapy?

The MP I use has heaps of dust in the viewfinder, it seriously needs cleaning.

Early models suffer from this due to bad sealing of the eye piece, early adopters like me suffer from this.

But, ! , it is easily solvable and it doesn't mean all MP's have a view finder problem.

My cam is solid like a brick ( it's fallen, it get bumped, it's scratched, I use it intensively ) whenever I state this there are always people that come up with criticism.

It would be a myth that the MP is reliable, I believe these critics, every mechanical device can and eventualy will fail.

Some more or earlier than others.

But, never generelise!

A number of peole I know use the M7 and are very happy with it.

( Lucky bastards they are )

Wish you were one of them Jaap.

BTW, are you attending the Dutch forum member meeting in Utrecht ( check on the forum member meeting forum ) on the 14 of september?

Regards,

Fr.

I've just fetched my M7 plus motor-M drive out of the cupboard after having not used it for 9 months (since acquiring the M8). The ergonomics of this combination are an absolute joy and it feels a shame not to be using it more (or at all). Compared with the M7, the M8 feels a bit crap (finder is pokier, body is fatter, build feels cheaper, etc.).

In fact the M7 is a bad camera!

You cannot make of the mechanical M Leica an electronic version!

The M7 is a 'trouble' camera !

Absolute BS!

I have had an M3 for 20 years, an M6 for 3 years and an M7 for 3 years. Only carry M6 and M7 now and the M7 gets 80% of the shots. No problems. Soon as I find another M7 will purchase and sell M6. The M7 is superb.-Dick

.

Machines are machines.....even Rolls and Mercedes will have mechanical issues once in a while....that doesn't make them lemons.

....as long as one keeps up with good a maintenance program, there should not be many problems.....of course, the maintenance upkeep of a Rolls is not cheap.....same thing with an M7..... .

Ed.

Stephen- I share your feelings about both the M7 and M8. I also agree that having the motor winder on the M7 rocks, and furthermore makes for a very seamless experience when shooting the M7/M8 side by side. best...Peter

i bought my m7 when they were first released and it has been nothing but a pleasure to use.

my m6 is also from the first version, leitz roundel. neither of these cameras has missed a beat. operator error may have missed some shots but the cameras have always worked perfectly.
