pragmatist Posted December 31, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) After a lay off of at least 5 years and having sold 2 M9’s I have decided to come back to Leica. I am not hugely inspired by the type 240 or the 262 so have decided after much deliberation to go for a second hand M9 with proven sensor replacement. I loved the files from my M9’s and don’t care much for chimping, low light photography, video capability, focus peaking or frame rates. Oh and I love brass. Seems a no brainer and seeing as I can pick one up for around £2000 makes it an absolute bargain. cant wait to get back into it. matty

andym91 Posted December 31, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 31, 2019 Matty hi coincidentally I’m in a very similar situation. also away for at least 5 years and back to Leica but with my old M8.2, it’s fun again and even though I have an M9 it’s the M8.2 that I want and do pick up. enjoy ‘ coming home ‘ andy

Kostya, you are reading the ambiguous phrase out of context and incorrectly, I fear. The OP was not laid off from his job (i.e. fired) or unemployed for 5 years, thus lacking income for that period. He surely means that he stopped using Leicas for 5 years, and has now (title of the thread) come back to the family. 😃

In fact to add to the story I kind of went off photography for a long while and came back to it after googling Leica one day out of curiosity and reading about the sensor replacement M9’s out there really got my juices flowing. I am now the owner once more of a Leica M9 and 35mm F2 Cron. I also remember how ridiculously sharp the Zeiss biogon was so will be adding a 25mm to the arsenal too.
