Unfortunately I have to start with a small problem. I tried to adapt a Contax 28mm lens to the SL2. As with the SL I did not use the expensive R to L adapter (original from Leica). but used the combination of two adapters.  Contax to M adapter and the official M to L adapter.
When I did that on the SL I got a list of Leica lenses to choose from. I could select between M and R lenses.
Now on the SL2, I get only a list of M lenses to choose from. Do other users get the same experience ? Is this a user error or a problem of the early firmware ?

Thanks for any answer.

I will see if I get a better result when adapting an original R lens with the adapter pair. (Or if I need to buy the expensive original R to L adapter to get access to the list of R lenses).

Now I tried a R lens adapted with the adapter pair consisting of original R to M adapter plus original M to L adapter. And now I get the list of R lenses to choose from (only the R). Which is ok.
But for foreign lenses it would be useful to be able to select from both R and M lenses. Many SLR lenses have siblings in the R collection. (especially longer lenses).

I have to check again, if I get a list of both lens types, as you just described ....

I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but when I had my SL (sadly no more), I used the genuine M lens to L mount, and then a generic (e bay) R lens to M mount adapter. This generic adapter had the "6-bit" pits on the rear, and it was a matter of selecting the correct "pit" to blacken. Once I did this it bought up the R lens menus.

Maybe this is the problem you face?
