Kennethjk Posted December 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) . I am going to the NY Botanical Garden next week and will visit the indoor holiday train show and would appreciate hearing recommendations on the best lens to take. I have several M lenses. 50 1.4, 21 3.4, 90 2.8. Also have a Q. M camera is the 10. I could take the Q and M10 with one lens. Don’t really want to swap lenses on the M if I could avoid it. thoughts would be appreciated, thanks
Advertisement Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Hi Kennethjk, Take a look here NY Botanical Garden. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
james.liam Posted December 7, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 7, 2019 None of the lenses you mention have macro capabilities. In fact you’re stuck @ 0.7 metres. If the Q possesses that capability, that’s what I’d go with.
mdemeyer Posted December 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted December 7, 2019 Since you will likely not get that close to some parts of the train layouts, I’d bring the 90 on the M10 along with the Q.
Kennethjk Posted December 7, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted December 7, 2019 Although I have been to the gardens several times I have never been to the train show so I do not know how close I can get to the exhibit. looks like the Q is a definite. Wasn’t sure if the 21 would add much more. Thought the 50 would add something to the trip since I can open it up, although the 90 would be good for reach. I also have an 135 3.4 but didn’t think it would be useful inside. appreciate your thoughts.
james.liam Posted December 7, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 7, 2019 For those who are unfamiliar with the New York Botanical Gardens, they are built on the scale of the gardens at Kew. Aside from the critical work preserving threatened plant species, they were instrumental in saving the North American bison from extinction. After the wanton and mindless destruction In the late 19th century of vast bison herds in order to subdue the indigenous peoples of the Great Plains, the few remaining survivors (I think there were 9) were brought to the gardens and bred. The herds of buffalo now roaming in the western United States are all descended from these few saved by the Botanical Gardens.
