SJH Posted November 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All new to the Q2 and overall I’m really enjoying the Q2 experience, however, I’ve noticed that if I stop down from F2.8 to say F8 the LCD displays the corresponding F stop. If though I go back the other way from say F16 to F8 it will display F9 in the LCD instead of F8, same thing broadly happens at other F stops until I’m back at 1.7. It only occurs this way, am I missing something or could you try the same on your Q2’s to see if it’s replicated? Many thanks and appreciate your help. I just tried your exercise on my Q2 and I don’t see any discrepancy in the LCD Aperture display versus what’s on the Aperture dial. Do you have the latest firmware? Are you in aperture priority? Meaning is the shutter speed and ISO on auto. I would try in pure manual too meaning nothing in Auto. Are you in macro mode? Good luck!!! Now, post pics and just enjoy. Look forward to seeing your contributions. You’ll figure it out. The Q2 is a fantastic camera and generally I think very reliable. SJH Posted November 24, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted November 24, 2019 Thanks for this and yes aperture priority and auto ISO, I’ll give it a go in manual to see if this changes anything and yes latest firmware.

You might try resetting the firmware too. I’m guessing. Just thinking of any off the wall ideas.
SJH Posted November 24, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted November 24, 2019 Thanks for your help so far and I've tried manual, shutter priority, manual ISO etc and behaviour remains the same. Where it seems to go out of sync is between F5.6 and F13 i.e. I go from 2.8 to say F16 and everything corresponds in the LCD. If I then go the other way from F13 to F8 say it's shows F9 on the LCD and F8 on the lens. If I go down to 5.6 and then back to 8 in the same movement so to speak in then gets in right with F8 on the lens and F8 on the LCD. Very odd and annoying as if it's showing F8 on the lens when I'm out for street work and I glance down it's actually saying F9 on the LCD!!

I’m sorry to say you probably should send it to Leica service. If it’s less than a couple weeks old, I’d return it for a replacement. My camera does not exhibit any of the characteristics you describe. Yours should not either. Good luck.

Thanks for the update and it’s pretty new at only a month old so I’ll take it back to them. Very frustrating as I love the Q2 overall, I’ll post the response from Leica once I have it but to everyone who has bought a Q2 in the last 6 weeks or so suggest you check yours out just in case and let us all know if it displays the same issue. Bummed for you, but it’s still a great camera. Get it checked quickly and move on. Take lots of beautiful photos.

SJH Posted December 7, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted December 7, 2019 Just so everyone has an end to this thread Leica have exchanged the camera as the aperture ring was faulty. Excellent service from everyone at Red Dot Camera’s and I’m continuing to enjoy the Q2.
