a.noctilux Posted October 31, 2019 Share #2 Â Posted October 31, 2019 I bet for 50mm Summilux-M pre-asph. and 28mm Elmarit-M (version III).
adan Posted October 31, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) Coincidentally, I took a workshop with DAH in 1999 (date of the video) and he was using a 35 Summilux ASPH for the vast majority of his Cuba pictures at that time. With a 28 (the then-current v.4) in his pocket when needed. I think that "50 Summilux" is just a really-well-worn 35 ASPH. However, he said that he would actually prefer a 50 - but that with the slow color films demanded by Nat. Geo. (Velvia 50 and Kodachrome), he needed f/1.4, and on a 50 at f/1.4, that just meant too little DoF for his spacious, fast-moving street scenes, or indoors, or at night. Thus the 35 'lux ASPH. It is of course, quite possible he also kept a 50 'lux (pre-ASPH - video predates the ASPH version) in his other pocket, and pulled it out for some of the videography. The three pictures here (per his own words) were: 28, 35, 35. http://www.centralskateco.com/art-2/cuba-by-david-alan-harvey/ see also: http://www.betterphotography.in/perspectives/great-masters/dream-lens-david-alan-harvey/2344/ http://shooterfiles.com/2016/01/master-profiles-david-alan-harvey/ Edited October 31, 2019 by adan 2
