Hi all,

I just ordered a new Leica D-Lux 7 direct from Leica. This is my first Leica and I eagerly await its arrival! I have a question though that I hope someone can help me with. Amazon sells Kindle Books Which are titled The Photographers Guide To The (insert model name here) Digital Camera. I have the one for the D-Lux 5, though not the Camera itself, and find them to be excellent books which seem to cover more, in an easier to understand format than Leica's user manuals. Okay..long winded preamble, but finally the question! Amazon does not have this guide specifically for the D-Lux 7, but does have one for the D-Lux Typ 109. Even though the 7 has better specs, are the physical controls and hopefully menu system for both cameras close enough that I would be well served buying the book for the Typ 109?  Any help here from someone who has seen or used both cameras would be greatly appreciated. I’m sorry to have been so long winded but needed to make this as clear as possible. Someday when I can afford a good Leica film camera and a lens or two, I might take the plunge! But for now..a new D-Lux 7 is what’s in my price range! LOL!

Thanks,

Unkei

I've just gone from the D Lux (109) to the D Lux 7 and they are different enough that you'd be better off waiting for a book to come out that is specific to the D Lux 7. As you no doubt know the manual is available online as a PDF and I'd suggest reading it. The instructions that come with the camera are not very detailed.

Have fun. It's a very nice little camera.

Thanks Brent,

The camera just arrived last night and after charging the battery and setting language, time and date...I think I am ready to do a little shooting...probably tomorrow.

cheers,

Unkei (David)
