A friend architect asked me to realize a series of pictures for a new luxurious appartment block he just finished.

He wants a dozen of pictures, both in medium format and what he calls "Leica format":)

Pictures will be published in a booklet and afetr that on the developer's website.

I never realized that kind of commission yet.

Any distinguished member here have any idea of the amounf I could charge for this ?

I guess it should be around 3 hours of shooting, on available light, then a half day of work on the negs

and prints.

Thanks for any advice.

Well, when I commission a photographer for brochure work, I expect to pay anything from 900GBP t0 1500GBP per day, plus film and processing at cost, plus any other expenses such as travel, eating at exepnsive restaurants, etc. Since you're going to do apporx a day's work in total, I guess you've really got to consider, what's a day or your life worth, bearing in mind that life is limited :-)

cheers:

You're speaking golden words, here, Sam, not money anymore;)

Well, I think 1000 € + expenses would do.

By the way, the friend factor does not play here, because he's not the payer.

But you will commission a professional. If you commission a friend, you expect to pay less and by the way are we talking business here I mean are you paying tax or are we talking a no tax thing...

But a job is worth a job, whether it's by a fulltime photographer, or a photographer who does it for a living (dontcha just hate those bourgeois-revisionist-capitalist-running-dog terms 'professional' and amateur?) - it's the results that count. In fact, of course, it's also worth remembering that a fulltime photographer's equipment costs at most only 67 percent -after tax deductions and VAT - of what it would cost a 'hobby' photographer. I'm not dissing commercial photogs...just pointing out that it doesn't make any difference.

Yours as an anarchist :-)

Correct. Art of nuance is a matter of percentage:cool:

"Art of nuance is a matter of percentage"...Indeed!

I see I made a typing mistake in my previous post, as a result of listening to music, drinking Budvar, and keyboarding all at the same time - I should know by now that it's only women who can multi-task :-(

What I meant to say in response to zapp's post was :"But a job is worth a job, whether it's by a fulltime photographer, or a photographer who does it for a hobby".

Good luck with your commission, Johan...let us know how it works out.
