Guest Nowhereman Posted October 8, 2019 Share #23 Posted October 8, 2019 There is currently no import duty on "cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers" (HS 9002.11.60.00). I have bought a Leica lens and a camera from a dealer in the UK and was not charged any import duty in either case, nor asked for my social security number, despite the value being more than $2,500. On the lens I bought I had the misfortune of being charged a (rip-off) customs clearance fee by UPS, which was not charged by the other carrier. As stated in another thread, in a current US trade dispute with the EU, there is a 25% duty announced by the US to go into effect on October 18, which apples to German cameras and lenses, unless the EU and the US negotiate a resolution in the meantime. So now Leica prices will go up an additional 25%? Glad I only paid 1.5% For my M9P...
