Since there is zero car-culture or interest in quality vintage automobiles here, I've been going through my files and doing some sorting & housekeeping for long-term storage and archiving and ran across this from the '16 Pebble Beach Concours d';Elegance, one of about a dozen featured '31 through '37 two-seater Indy racers, a time when the rules called for a driver and a riding mechanic.

Built on a modified Duesenberg A chassis, powered by a 4-cylinder Cummins marine diesel, weighing 3380 pounds at the start line. The car used a little more than 30 gallons of diesel fuel and finished in 13th place in the '31 Indianapolis 500 race, while setting a record by being the first ever entry to race non-stop from start to finish.
