I am anxiously awaiting my new-to-me M262; it should be here Thursday. I went with the Zeiss 35 2.8 b/c of affordability and it's the length I wanted. (I know, a sin to use non-Leica lenses but sometimes $$ talks.)

This is my dilemma......I have a Q as well as a Sony A7iii and several lenses for the Sony. One of them has to go to pay for said M262. The Sony is much more versatile (lenses from 16-85) and the pictures are fine. The eye autofocus is amazing. But the menus and UI is terrible.

I don't shoot for money. I just shoot for me and for the experience.

So, sell the Q? which has taken a dive in price but is about as low as it will go or sell the Sony and lenses?

WWYD? If I sold the Sony, I would get more $$ and be able to get a 50. I would have a 28 on the Q, 35 and 50. If I sold the Q, I would not be able to get a 50 for a while, But that's OK> I shot with the 50 last weekend and it seemed a bit too tight.

You say that the 50mm was a bit too tight. For what?

With a Q28 and a Q35 the one-time standard 50mm would seem ideal, particularly for more than head portraiture. Later add a 90mm for head and shoulders and short tele work.

I would say keep the Q,  ditch the Sony camera and lenses to pay for the M262 and buy a second lens for the M262 with any left over cash.  There is no sin in putting a Zeiss lens on an M camera.

I have to confess I have never been a fan of Sony cameras, thanks to the stories of their nonexistent customer service that I have heard of.  Apparently Sony thinks if one of their cameras or lenses breaks, the consumer should toss it into the nearest trash can and go buy a new piece of Sony kit to replace it.

JMHO but a camera that costs as much as an A7iii should not be considered a throwaway by the manufacturer; the same goes for the lenses.

This may come as a dreadful shock to the gents who run Sony, but not all of we folk who make photographs cruise around town in new Rolls Royces, carry our cameras in $60,000 USD elephant skin bags and spend our weekends in the Hamptons playing cricket astride gold plated thoroughbreds.
